What is a title or notarial deed?
What is a title of ownership?
The title or deed provides evidence that someone is the owner of a property. This could be, for example, a notarial deed of purchase or a donation deed. You may also have become owner by inheritance, which in turn should be apparent from the declaration of the inheritance or the notarial deed of liquidation and division of the inheritance.
Why is it necessary to provide a copy of the notarial deed?
When selling your home, you will check, among other things, the property title to see if you are the owner or if there are multiple stakeholders in situations such as joint ownership. Also easements or other matters which your property is favored with or disadvantaged can be found in the title deed.
Who makes this up?
The title of ownership is drawn up by the notary.
Where can you find your title?
Hopefully in your closet :-) If you do not find this anymore, we can always ask your notary to request a copy.
